Crater Description

A shot of the Benedict crater from the side of Apollo 16 .

The immediate neighbors of the crater are the Moissant Crater in the west; Bergman Crater in the northwest; Richards Crater in the North-North-West; Fisher Crater in the north-northeast; Garden Crater in the northeast and Schuster Crater in the east [1] . The selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater are , diameter - 13.8 km [2] , depth - 2.3 km [3] .

The crater has a cup-shaped shape with a small area of a flat bottom, practically not destroyed. The height of the shaft above the surrounding area is about 520 m [3] . The inner slope of the crater has an albedo higher than that of the surrounding area, which indicates a relatively small age of the crater. According to morphological characteristics, the crater belongs to the BIO type (according to the name of a typical representative of this class - Bio crater).

Satellite Craters

Are absent.
