Biography

The second daughter of the last king of Bavaria, Ludwig III and his wife Maria Theresa , nee Archduke from the house of Habsburg-Este . In total, 13 children were born in the family, of which 11 survived.

On May 31, 1897, the princess married Ferdinand Pius , Prince of Bourbon of Sicily and Duke of Calabria. He was the son of Prince Alfonso, Count di Caserta and Marie Antoinette of the same Sicilian Bourbon family. According to his father, he is the grandson of King of both Sicilies Ferdinand II and the nephew of King Francis II .

Maria Louis Theresa died in 1956. Her husband died four years later. After his death, the primacy in the house was challenged by Prince Ranieri, Duke of Castro, and Alfonso, Duke of Calabria. The dispute has not been resolved.
