History

Coat of arms of the Zherdevsky district (2012)

On April 12, 2012, by the decision of the Zherdevsky District Council of People’s Deputies of the Tambov Region No. 18 [2] , the emblem of the region was approved with the following description: “In a azure field on green land there is a windmill , located on a divided shield in half, resembling the main regional emblem, with one size in one color scale at registration. On the right side of the coat of arms, as a symbol of already modern industry, a gear is depicted against the background of the modern Russian flag . ”

The coat of arms description stated: “The coat of arms in the language of symbols and allegories reflected the natural, historical and cultural features of the Zherdevsky district. In 1779, by decree of Empress Catherine II , the Tambov governorship was formed in 15 counties, and in 1796 it was renamed the province . Zherdevsky region entered Borisoglebsky district . In economic notes to the master plan of the Borisoglebsky district in 1816 it is written that there are only flour mills on the river in Burnak. In the middle of the XIX century, several peasant families from the village of Burnak chose a place for resettlement on the right side of the Savala River and, having received the consent of the Burnak descent, they built huts here. The resulting village was called Tsybizovka Settlements. Under this double name, it lasted until 1885. Then it became known as the village of Chibizovka.

According to archival documents, the Tambov Territory played the role of a major grain supplier in the all-Russian market. Starting from the 18th century and in the fifties of the 19th century, the collection of bread per capita in it amounted to about 40 pounds against 23 pounds in the other 50 provinces of European Russia. The amount of marketable bread reached 20 million pounds per year. Bread was exported outside the province, to the central and northern regions. A significant amount of Tambov grain was sold abroad. Our county was one of the major suppliers of bread, so the flour mills in our area were quite abundant. Bread began to be exported by rail since 1869. This year, the first passenger train passed the Burnak station - the initial name was Zherdevka station until November 1905.

The figures of the coat of arms of the Zherdevsky district reflected:

Windmill - represents the harvest and fertility.
The gear is a symbol of modern industry. ”

On October 16, 2013, by decision of the Zherdevsky District Council of People’s Deputies of the Tambov Region No. 22, a new coat of arms of the district was approved, and the old coat of arms of 2012 was canceled.
