(7092) Cadmus ( Dr. Greek Κάδμος ) is a near - Earth asteroid from the Apollon group, which is characterized by an extremely elongated orbit, because of which, in the process of its movement around the Sun, it intersects not only the Earth ’s orbit, but also Mars . The asteroid was discovered on June 4, 1992 by American astronomers Carolyn and Eugene Shoemakers at the Palomar Observatory and named after Cadmus , a character in ancient Greek mythology [1] .
