Oxyepoecus (Latin) is a genus of small ants from the subfamily Myrmicinae ( Solenopsidini , Formicidae ). About 20 species. South America : Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil [2] [3] .

Small ants. The length of working individuals is 1.9-3.4 mm, females 2.4-3.8 mm, males - about 3 mm. Antennae 11-segmented with 3-segmented apical mace. Mandibular palpi consists of 2 segments (palp formula: 2.2). Petiolum between breast and abdomen is two-segmented ( petiol + postpetiol). Some species lead a socio- parasitic lifestyle. For example, the species Oxyepoecus inquilinus is found in anthills of the species Pheidole radoszkowskii , and Oxyepoecus bruchi is found in the ants Pheidole obtusopilosa [2] [3] .
Several species of the genus are included in the International List of Rare and Endangered IUCN Species , for example, Oxyepoecus bruchi [4] , Oxyepoecus inquilina [5] and Oxyepoecus daguerrei [6] .
