History
On December 20, 1960, Pope John XXIII issued the bull Cum Fidei , which established the Diocese of Ruchengeri, distinguishing it from the Archdiocese of Kabgaya (today the Diocese of Kabgaya ) and the Diocese of Newndo .
On November 5, 1981, the Diocese of Ruchengeri transferred part of its territory for the construction of the new Diocese of Byumba .
