Biography
Vladimir Mikhailov was born on June 15, 1960 in the city of Borovichi, Novgorod Region.
In 1978 he graduated from the Borovichi Industrial College, majoring in milling . After graduating from a 2-year course in mechanics , Vladimir went to the Comet military factory, where he mastered working with material.
From 1978 to 1980, he served in the army on the Kola Peninsula . He entered the service as a driver, but the last year passed as a regimental graphic designer in the officers' house, and, returning to the factory, he also transferred to the position of graphic designer. He began to attend workshops for original artists. Vladimir curator was Moscow master N.M. Rotanov , who instilled in future artists a taste for art, taught them composition and artistic technique.
In 1983, at one of the seminars, Vladimir Mikhailov created his first stone cross.
Vladimir Mikhailov gave 25 years to work at the plant, and having worked as a pensioner, he was fully engaged in applied art.
Since 2004, Vladimir Mikhailov began working with precious metals . In his products, he is trying to revive the Pskov and Novgorod art technique transmitted from generation to generation depicting Orthodox spiritual images that originated in the 12th-13th centuries. Now the collection has more than 400 jewelry .
Many years of friendship and joint work connects Vladimir Mikhailov with his father Fedor Konyukhov . Inspired by the courage and strength of spirit of Father Fyodor, Mikhailov created for the traveler a priestly “sea” cross and a tabletop composition, including a fragment of a stone brought by Konyukhov from Cape Horn. Later, Vladimir Mikhailov was entrusted with the manufacture of a stone Orthodox cross for the traveler’s expedition to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, as well as a cross and panagia for the monument to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker Mysgornovsky, installed by Fedor Konyukhov in the city of Murmansk. In 2019, Mikhailov presents the traveler with a 40-kilogram work, made of dolomite stone. The master depicted on it the boat Akros, dissecting the globe with the initials of FC, the Russian tricolor flying over it and spreading the wings of a double-headed eagle.
Creativity
In 2007, Vladimir created a miniature calendar of Orthodox holidays the size of a five-ruble coin. The master took 4 months to create a calendar of 7 pages, a salary, a binding, a lock and a stand made of pure gold. Calendar size: 25x27x10 mm. Calendar weight: 123.73 g. The smallest letter: 0.4 × 0.8 mm. [1] [2] [3] .
