It is a rock that extends far into the waters of the Pacific Ocean and breaks down 40-50-meter ledges [3] .

In the second half of the XX century, it was widely known among tourists and artists.

The distance to the next southeast direction of land is about 5400 km. In fine weather, you can observe mountains and volcanoes from the neighboring islands of Kunashir and Iturup from the cape.

Cape End of the World itself can be observed from Cape Crab , which is the easternmost point of the island [4] .

In order to approach its ledges, it is necessary to overcome a distance of about 10 km on foot.

The name “End of the World” was given to the cape by the head of the Kuril complex expedition of 1946, Yu. K. Efremov , who explored the island after its inclusion in the RSFSR [5] .

Screensavers with a view of the cape can be seen in the Soviet film about the adventures of Robinson Crusoe .
