History
The name, allegedly, comes from the non-calendar personal name Kart [2] .
In the XIX century, the village of Kartino was part of the Ostrovsky volost of Podolsk district . In 1899, 367 people lived in the village [3] .
Population
According to the All-Russian Census , in 2002, 113 people lived in the village (51 men and 62 women) [4] . According to 2005 data, 120 people lived in the village [5] .

The village of Kartino is located about 8 km northeast of the center of Vidnoe . The nearest settlement is the village of Ascherino .
