The competition consists of several rounds, preceded by qualification rounds, starting from the preliminary round, four qualifying rounds follow. Qualification rounds are intended for teams outside the Premier League and the Football League . In the First round, there are clubs of the Football League Championship , the First and Second League , and the Premier League clubs start the tournament from the third round. After five rounds, the playoffs with eight teams begin.
Norwich City won their second cup, beating Chelsea in the final match with a total score of 4: 2.
