History

The Swedish krona was put into circulation in 1873, as a result of the formation of the Scandinavian monetary union , which existed until the First World War . The new monetary unit replaced the previously used ryksdaler . The Scandinavian countries, with the currency krona in Sweden and krone in Denmark and Norway , which means “crown” in Scandinavian languages, became members of the union. After the collapse of this association, all three countries decided to keep the name, but for their own currencies.

According to tradition, the portrait of the monarch of Sweden is depicted on the front side of the coin with a denomination of one crown, and on the back - one of the arms of Sweden , or the crown. The motto of the king is also present on the coin.

Big Bang

Big Bang from the English. Big Bang , occurred in October 1982, when Sweden devalued its currency (Swedish krona) by 16%. The reason for what happened was the international economic recession of the 1970s, the lag behind many other countries in economic terms and Sweden’s desire to catch up. The term " Big Bang " was taken from astronomy. This name was supposed to mean a new beginning for the entire Swedish economy .
