Play career

Sean Bourke began his playing career at the Toronto Marlboros, playing in the OHL . At the 1985 NHL Draft , Bourke howled the New Jersey Devils in round two at number 24. But Bourke spent the next year playing for the Marlboros.

For the national team, Bourke made his debut in 1986 at the Hamilton Youth World Hockey Championship. The debut for Burke was successful, the Canadian team took 2nd place. In 1988, Bourke was called to the national team to participate in the 1988 Olympics . But Canada failed at the Olympics. Having lost the USSR national team with a crushing score of 0: 5, Canadians took only fourth place.

After the Olympics, Bourke continued to play for the Devils. In the 1987/88 season, Bourke played 11 matches. Bourke played in a match against Chicago Blackhawks , thanks to a victory in which the club from New Jersey reached the playoffs. Then, in the relegation games, the Devils reached the quarter finals, where they lost in 7 matches of the Boston Bruins . After the season ended, Bourke said that in the 1987/88 season, he played only 11 matches, and therefore the next season will be his debut.

In New Jersey Devils, Bourke played until 1991 . In 1992, Bourke was sold to the Hartford Whalers . After the team moved and renamed it “ Carolina Hurricanes, ” Bourke remained in the club and played in it until 1998 . Then the goalkeeper did not play long in Vancouver Canucks , Philadelphia Flyers , Florida Panthers .

In 1999, Bourke signed with the Phoenix Coyotes , where he played for the next five seasons. Playing as the Phoenix, Bourke was nominated for the Vezin Trophy and became the third in the nomination for the Hart Trophy in the 2001/2002 season . After leaving Phoenix, Bourke played one season at the Philadelphia Flyers and Los Angeles Kings. In 2007, Bourke officially ended his playing career [1] .
