According to 1959, 250 people lived in the village of Mikelripsh, mostly Armenians and Georgians (there are only 1348 people in the Mikelripshsky village council, where the majority of the population as a whole were also Armenians and Georgians) [6] [7] . According to the 2011 census, the population of the rural settlement (rural administration) of Mkalrypsh was 326 residents, of which 308 were Armenians (94.5%), 7 people were Russians (2.1%), 5 people were Georgians (1.5 %), 3 people - Abkhazians (0.9%), 2 people - Ukrainians (0.6%), 1 person - Greek (0.3%) [9] .
