Renee Elise Goldsberry ( born Renee Elise Goldsberry ; January 2, 1971 , San Jose , California ) is an American actress, singer, and songwriter. She is best known for her role as Evangeline Williamson in the soap opera “ One Life to Live ” (2003-2007), which brought her two nominations for the daily Emmy Award [2] . Since then, she has had secondary roles in The Good Wife , Law and Order: Special Corps , and Followers . In 2015, she won the Drama Desk Award for her role in the musical Hamilton [3] . The following year, the role brought her "Tony" for the best female supporting role in the musical .

Goldsberry was born in San Jose , California , but raised in Houston , Texas and Detroit , Michigan .
Since December 8, 2002, she has been married to lawyer Alexis Johnson. The spouses have two children - son Benjamin Johnson (born 05/05/2009) [4] and daughter Brielle Johnson (born 02.15.2013, adopted from Africa in 2014).
