Aquara ( Abkh. Akhuara , cargo. აყვარა ) is a village in Abkhazia , in the Gagra region of the partially recognized Republic of Abkhazia , according to the administrative division of Georgia - in the Gagra municipality of the Abkhaz Autonomous Republic [1] . Altitude is 120 meters.

According to the 1959 census, 839 people lived in the village of Aquara, most of whom were Abkhazians and Georgians [3] [4] . By 1989, 1,164 people lived in the village of Aquara [2] , Georgians and Abkhazians [5] [6] prevailed.
