Achipsta [3] ( Abkh. Achipsta ) or Alpine ( Georgian ალპური ) is a village in Abkhazia , in the Gagra region of the partially recognized Republic of Abkhazia , according to the administrative division of Georgia , in the Gagra municipality of the Abkhaz Autonomous Republic [1] . According to 1959, 361 people lived in the Alpine village, mainly Armenians [4] [5] . In 1989, 278 people lived in the village [2] , also mainly Armenians [6] .
History
According to the Decree of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Abkhazia of December 4, 1992, the village of Alpine was renamed Achipsta . According to the laws of Georgia, it continues to be called Alpine .
