Apics

APICS ( The Association for Operations Management ) is a non-profit international educational organization that implements standardization and certification programs for specialists in the field of operational operations management. It was founded in 1957 as the American Community for Production and Inventory Management . As of 2013, the association consists of more than 50 thousand individual and corporate members from more than 10 thousand companies. Headquarters since April 2008 is located in Chicago .

The Association includes in the sphere of operational management elements of design, engineering , information management systems, quality management, production management, inventory management , accounting , aimed at the effective planning, coordination, implementation and control of production and service organizations.

Certification programs as of 2013: CPIM (certification in the field of production and inventory management), CSCP (certification in the field of supply chain management ) and APICS CFPIM ( fello in the field of production and inventory management). Until 2008, the CIRM program (certification in the field of integrated resource management) was in force.

In 2011, the association published the third edition of the APICS Operations Management Body of Knowledge ( OMBOK ), this document defines the scope of the profession and the area for the development of operations management specialists ^[1] . In addition, the association publishes periodical magazines APICS magazine and The Production and Inventory Management Journal , as well as the regularly updated glossary The APICS Dictionary .
