Khishrau ( Uzbek. Xishrav / Khishrav ) is an urban-type settlement in the Samarkand region of Uzbekistan . Administratively subordinated to the city of Samarkand , and is located west of the city. The distance from the square and the Registan ensemble in the center of Samarkand to Hishrau is approximately 16 kilometers.

It is located on the right bank of the ancient channel Dargom , which washes Hishrau from the south and west. In the north it borders with rural gatherings of citizens of Kattakurganaryk - Arabkhan and Urganji, who are part of the Samarkand region , in the east it borders on the Sattep massif of the city of Samarkand.
The status of an urban-type settlement was assigned in 1952 . In Soviet times, the Hishrau Hydroelectric Power Station was built in Hishrau. Currently, there are several private enterprises in the village. There are schools, kindergartens, a mosque , shops and other facilities.
Population
The official language and the language of interethnic communication is Uzbek . Estimated population of 10 to 15 thousand people. Uzbeks , Tajiks , Central Asian Arabs and Central Asian Iranians live in the village. Hishrau is one of the places of compact residence of Central Asian Arabs and Iranians of Samarkand. The population is mainly employed in agriculture, as well as in trade and services. Some residents of the village work in Samarkand itself.
