Biography
He studied at the Smolensk gymnasium . In 1875 he was admitted to the medical faculty of Moscow University . At the end of the course in 1881, he was approved as a doctor and after a practical exam, with the rank of county doctor. Designated to serve in the Golitsyn hospital as a supernumerary resident in February 1882; in 1891 he was appointed a full-time resident, and in 1893 - a senior doctor.
In 1896, S. F. Deryuzhinsky defended his doctoral dissertation " Castration and dressing art. "iliacae internae (according to Bier) among other methods of radical treatment of prostatic hypertrophy." In 1899 he was appointed chief physician of the Golitsyn hospital. In the position of chief doctor, he conducted active medical activities, operated a lot. On his initiative, the surgical department became the basis for practical training in faculty surgery for students of the Moscow Higher Women's Courses ; the nursing staff of “compassionate and medical assistants” was replaced by community nurses, for whom a hostel was organized on the hospital grounds.
As a surgeon Sergei Fedorovich Deryuzhinsky belonged to the scientific school of P.I. Dyakonov . Creative initiative, faith in science, wide erudition, vast clinical experience, excellent surgical technique strengthened Sergey Fedorovich's reputation as an outstanding figure in the field of surgery [2] .
In 1912 [3] Deryuzhinsky resigned as chief physician of the hospital, but, despite a progressive cancer, he remained in the hospital and continued to work as a simple surgeon. At the V Congress of Russian Therapists (St. Petersburg, December 1913), at a meeting with members of the XIII Congress of Russian Surgeons, he made a unique report, “Results of the 17-year-old struggle with operations for stomach cancer in the Moscow Golitsyn Hospital from 1896 to 1913 ., with the inclusion of a brief description of his own resection of a stomach afflicted with cancer ”- for 17 years, while he was ill, Deryuzhinsky observed the course of his illness and described its symptoms.
In 1901 he wrote the work "100th Anniversary of the Hospital of the Princes Golitsyn." In addition, he prepared chapters for the jubilee edition of “One Hundred Years of the Golitsyn Hospital in Moscow,” which was released in 1902 [2] .
S. F. Deryuzhinsky was awarded many orders of the Russian Empire, was a member of the Society of Russian Surgeons.
He was buried at the New Don cemetery in Moscow, the grave was not preserved (was located on the territory of the 1st crematorium).
Family
His father Fedor Timofeevich (Deryuzhinsky 1st) was a prominent lawyer; mother, Ekaterina Nikolaevna Muromtseva, belonged to an old Russian aristocratic family [4] ; brothers: Alexander , Vladimir , Konstantin , Nikolay - lawyers; the elder brother Nikolai was a senator, a member of the Council of State; Brother Vladimir , a police scientist, professor, was also a senator.
Wife - Kaleria Nikolaevna Verderevskaya from an old Russian noble family of Verderevsky . The Deryuzhinsky spouses had four children: Victor (1885–?) And Adelaide (1885–?), Catherine (1889-1978), Fedor (1892-1940).
