The Diocese of Kimberley ( Latin: Dioecesis Kimberleyensis ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church with its center in the city of Kimberley , South Africa . The Diocese of Kimberly is a member of the Metropolis of Bloemfontein . The cathedral of the diocese of Kimberley is the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is located in the city of Kimberley.

History
On June 4, 1886, the Holy See established the Apostolic Vicariate of Kimberly in the Orange Republic, separating it from the Apostolic Vicariato of the Cape of Good Hope and the Central District (today the Diocese of Oudshurn ) and Natal (today the Archdiocese of Durbin ).
On May 8, 1894, the Apostolic Vicariate of Kimberly in the Orange Republic transferred part of its territory to the Apostolic Prefecture of Basutoland (today - the Archdiocese of Maseru ).
In 1918, the Apostolic Vicariate of Kimberly in the Orange Republic was renamed the Apostolic Vicariate of Kimberly.
On November 26, 1923 and April 9, 1948, the Apostolic Vicariate of Kimberly in South Africa transferred part of its territory for the construction of the Apostolic Prefecture of Kronstad (today the Diocese of Kronstad ) and the Apostolic Vicariate of Pretoria (today - the Archdiocese of Pretoria ).
On January 11, 1951, Pope Pius XII issued the Bull Suprema Nobis, which transformed the Apostolic Vicariate of Kimberly into a diocese. On the same day, the Diocese of Kimberley transferred part of its territory for the formation of the new Archdiocese of Bloemfontein.
On April 2, 1959, the Diocese of Kimberley transferred part of its territory to the new Apostolic Prefecture of Bechuanaland (today - the Diocese of Gaborone ).
