History
Initially, Doug Michelle announced that the team would play in Toronto under the name Ontario Nationals. According to plans, the team was to play on Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. But Doug Michelle could not get permission to rent the stadium. After this, Doug Michelle, after waiting a while, announced that Hamilton would be the new home of the team, but ultimately the team was moved to Ottawa. Having become the owner of a controlling stake, Nick Tribovich began working with Doug Michel on hockey operations.
Billy Harris was appointed the Nationals head coach, and Wayne Carleton, who scored 42 goals and scored 92 points during the season, was appointed the main star on the ice.
The club’s home arena was the Civic Center in Ottawa, but the team was never able to become popular, with an average of about 3,000 people visiting each home match per game. Before the start of the 73–74 season, the team ceased to exist. And as a result, the next season the team moved to Toronto, where John F. Bassett became its owners, after the Nationals were renamed Toronto Toros .
