Brown, Billy (soccer player)

Billy Brown ( Eng. Billy Brown ; December 20, 1950 , Masselborough , Scotland ) is a Scottish footballer and football coach. He acted as a defender . He played for Motherwell , Rate Rovers , Newtongrange Star and Masselborough Athletic . For a long time he worked as an assistant coach, invariably joining the coaching staff of Jim Jeffries in teams such as the Berwick Rangers , Falkirk , Hart of Midlothian , Bradford City and Kilmarnock . He also played the role of assistant coach at Hibernian , briefly being the acting head coach. In 2012, he became the head coach for the first time, heading East Fife . Left the club on June 5, 2013.

Career

Player

At the first stage of his football career, he studied at the Academy of English Hull City for four years [1] . Unable to prove himself in England, he returned to his homeland, was listed in Motherwell for three years, in which he had played only nine matches during this time [1] . As a result, in 1973 he moved to the “ Rate Rovers ” [1] , where he reached the peak of his playing career. After spending five years in the team, he was slightly less than a hundred matches, noting five goals [1] . Twice during this time he became the silver medalist of the First Division tournament. At 28, he was seriously injured, which forced him to complete a professional career. For another six years, he played at the amateur level for the teams Newtongrange Star and Masselboro Athletic .

Coach

Brown began his coaching career as an assistant to the Berwick Rangers coach Jim Jeffries [2] , a childhood friend. Later, he moved from club to club with Jeffries , invariably entering his coaching staff. Thus, he changed several clubs, such as Falkirk , Hart of Midlothian , Bradford City , Kilmarnock [2] and in 2010 returned to the Hart of Midlothian [3] . In 2011, Brown and Jeffries were fired from the club. [2] Further their paths diverged and Billy became an assistant to the head coach of another club from Edinburgh - “ Hibernian ” [2] . After the dismissal, Koldevruda briefly performed the duties of the team’s head coach [4] and with the arrival of Pat Fenlon, he retained the position of assistant, but after the expiration of the contract he left the team [5] . In 2012, he headed the club for the first time on his own; East Fife became this cube [6] .
