Et-Tafila ( Arabic: الطفيلة ) is a city in the west of Jordan , the administrative center of the governorate of the same name .

Content
History
In ancient times, the city was part of Idumea and was known as Tofel. Mentioned in the Bible [1] .
Geographical position
The city is located in the central part of the governorate, in a mountainous area, at a distance of approximately 120 kilometers south-south-west (SSW) from the country's capital, Amman . The absolute height is 985 meters above sea level [2] .
Demographics
According to the 2004 census, the population was 23 512 people [3] . The dynamics of the population of the city by years:

Economics
The main products of urban exports are phosphates and raw materials for cement production. Agriculture is also developed.
