Description
Boro is located in the southwestern part of the state, 63.9% of it is occupied by the western part of the Alaskan peninsula , the remaining 36.1% are several eastern islands of the Aleutian archipelago , which, in fact, was given the name boro. In the east, it borders on the Lake and Peninsula borough, in the west - on the census zone of the Western Aleutian Islands , in the north it is washed by the waters of the Bering Sea , and in the south - on the Pacific Ocean .
The administrative center is Sand Point . Boro itself was created on October 23, 1987 [3] .
Borough area is 38,881 km², of which 20,782 km² (approx. 53%) are open water areas.
