Saint Foix-Siyeri-Cap-Rouge is called the gateway to Quebec, mainly due to the presence of the Pierre Laporte bridge and the Quebec bridge. With the advent of bridges, the area experienced a strong economic and cultural.

History

The area arose through the merger of three ancient cities. In 1669, a Jesuit missionary Pierre Chaumont, preaching among the Huron Indians, built the Notre-Dame-de-Foix Chapel here in the immediate vicinity of the rue du Wallon. [2]

In 1678, in the name of Noel Brulard de Siyeri (1577-1640), a knight of the Order of Malta, ordained priest in 1634, the settlement on which he founded the first mission in Quebec was named. [3]

In the years 1541-1543, Jacques Cartier founded a small village. In 1650, Jean Giuchero received these lands as an inheritance and named the estate of Cap-Rouge. This name comes from the red slate, from which the surrounding rocks and cape are composed with a view of the St. Lawrence River. [four]
