 Genevieve Casill

French theater and film actress Genevieve Casill was born on August 15, 1937 in Boulogne-Billancourt , a suburb of Paris , in France .

The grandfather of the future actress was an artist, her father was an engineer, her mother was an artist and musician. Genevieve since childhood grew up in a creative environment and was fond of music , painting and dancing . From the age of 4 she danced in the troupes of Roland Petit and Maurice Bejart . She graduated from the conservatory in Reims in piano and music theory . Then she turned to the Drama Theater , entered the National Conservatory of Dramatic Art in Paris , graduated from the drama courses founded by Rene Simon, in the class of Jean-Louis Barrot and Georges Sharman.

Creativity

Genevieve Casil is one of the leading actresses in the Comedy Francaise theater, where she worked for several decades starting in 1959 (since 1994 - Honorary Member). For several decades, the actress played many roles on the stage of this theater (and other French theaters) in more than 88 performances, mainly in the classical repertoire: in the plays of Racine , Cornell , Euripides , Moliere , Beaumarchais , Rostan , Hugo , Scribe , Marivo , Girodou , Anuia , Cocteau , Schiller , Lope de Vega , Shakespeare , Wilde , and other playwrights.

One of the best roles of the actress in the Comedy Frances Theater is Roxanne in the play Cyrano de Bergerac based on the play by Edmond Rostand . Among the theatrical roles of the actress - Andromache , Electra , Berenice , Clytemnestra , Maria Stuart , Lucretia Borgia , Jimena, doña Sol, Countess Almaviva, donna Anna, and many others. In 1976, she played the Marquise Chibault in the theatrical performance (shown on television) directed by Franco Zeffirelli Lorenzaccio by Alfred de Musset . I tried myself as a singer: in 1985, Carmen sang in a theatrical performance, shown on television.

Genevieve Casill acted in films and on television less often than she performed in the theater. The most famous actress brought the role of princesses and queens - beautiful, slightly chilly, proud and arrogant. The Russian viewer is familiar with the actress mainly for her roles in mini-series: Isabella French , daughter of the King of France Philip IV the Beautiful and the Queen of England (“French Wolf”) in the mini-series “ Cursed Kings ” ( 1972 ) directed by Claude Barmá on the cycle of the same name Maurice Druon's novels ; Queen of France Marie Antoinette in the mini-series Marie Antoinette ( 1975 ) directed by Guy-Andre Lefranc . In some European countries, the mini-series Catherine , filmed in 1986 on the cycle of the same name by Julietta Benzoni , in which actress Genevieve Casill played the role of Queen Yolanda of Aragon, was shown (and released in France on DVD).
