The Golden Valley is a section of the valley of the Zyryanka River in its lower reaches on the outskirts of Novosibirsk Akademgorodok . It is known as the place from which the construction of the Academgorodok began.

Until about 1957 , this place was called the “ Wolf Log ”, since at that time wolves were actually found there. In 1957 , six shield houses were built in the valley, in which the leaders of the Akademgorodok organization lived, in particular, academician M.A. Lavrentiev . Now in his house is a museum . Lavrentiev considered the former name unattractive for metropolitan scientists and suggested replacing it. The name "Golden Valley" was proposed by Vladimir Titov , then a graduate student , later an academician, director of the Institute of Hydrodynamics SB RAS [1] [2] [3] .
The Golden Valley gave the name to Zolotodolinskaya Street in Akademgorodok and the Golden Valley Hotel.
