Melu was a good ruler who ruled wisely and fairly. His younger brother, Rival , however, was completely different. The relationship between the brothers was strained. Once their argument was so heated that Rival hit Melu, after which the ruler passed away. Melu's heir was his son Melor , who was still a child.
