History
In 1876, a young artist Andrei Chinenov arrived in Rostov, graduating from the famous Moscow State Academy of Art and Industry named after S. G. Stroganov . Twenty years later, on February 6, 1986 (according to other sources - at the end of 1895 ), Andrei Semenovich, being the chairman of the art committee of the Rostov-on-Don aristocratic society, “... Establishes the first and only public art school in the whole Azov region, called drawing classes ... ".
It was also decided that the city treasury will allocate 1,000 rubles annually for the maintenance of drawing classes. The Stroganov School sent Rostovites the necessary supplies for art education. Drawing lessons was carried by A. S. Chinenov himself. He was helped by his wife - a sculptor by education - M. M. Chinenova (nee Theoghnosti).
A pupil of the Chinenovs, A. M. Hakhnazaryan, later recalled that, despite the difference in age (Andrei Semenovich was much older than Maria Mikhailovna), it was an unusually harmonious, happy couple. They were "subtlely simple" people. The spouses lived together with their two daughters in Nakhichevan (now Proletarsky district of Rostov), at the following address: 1st line, 35.
The fact that, having formed an art school in Don, A. S. Chinenov spoke a new, original word in the system of national education, at least the fact that at the world exhibition in Paris ( 1900 ) he developed a method of teaching drawing was awarded a diploma and bronze medal ... [2]
The tree of art education, planted by the once caring and skillful hands of the Chinenov spouses, has taken root, has grown in our area. It is still abundantly fruiting ... What once began only with drawing classes, today is the 14 regional art schools for children, 46 art departments at the regional art schools for children, the Moscow art college named after M. Grekov, Faculty at the Rostov State Pedagogical University . There is such a wonderful expression - “Loyalty to traditions”. They are kept today by Rostov artists.
In 1914, Chinionov received permission from the Russian Academy of Arts to open an independent private art school in Rostov-on-Don — a drawing and modeling class.
In 1920, the school received the status of the First Soviet art school of the Don professional education. In 1928 this educational institution was united with the Nakhichevan Industrial School and received the name of the artistic-industrial technical school, and since 1938, this technical school has become known throughout the country to the Rostov Art School .
