Biography

Pyotr Grigoryevich Shiryaev was born into the family of the estate manager of the landowners Yazykov , freedman Grigory Stepanovich Shiryaev (1825 - September 16, 1870) and the daughter of the clerk Larisa Ivanovna (nee Sergeyeva, p. 1839). The family had seven children, two of whom - a son and a daughter, died in infancy. In addition to Peter, the family had an older brother - Stepan (October 27, 1857 - August 18, 1881), younger brothers - Ivan (April 1, 1862 - January 22, 1915) and Nikolai (born March 30, 1864), sister Elena (born May 29, 1867 )

In 1870 he entered the Saratov male gymnasium thanks to the patronage and financial assistance of the landowner Yazykov N.P. Under the influence of his older brother Stepan, comrades in the gymnasium and special literature, he was first involved in the self-education circle. A classmate Sergey Bobokhov also participated in the circle.

In 1874 - 1875 he was a member of the revolutionary circle of high and middle school students under the leadership of high school student Stepan Shiryaev and student Feofan Geraklitov. In May 1875 he left the gymnasium, realizing that otherwise he would be expelled without the right to enter other educational institutions, but did not refuse to continue to participate in the revolutionary movement.

After leaving the gymnasium, he entered the typography as a typesetter, then worked as a locksmith apprentice at the iron foundry S. G. Plotnikov in Saratov. He led anti-government propaganda among workers.

On January 25, 1877, he was arrested in an apartment on Ilyinskaya Street , in which the revolutionaries lived: F. E. Geraclitov, P. G. Shiryaev, V. P. Blagoveshchensky, I. T. Sofinsky, S. N. Bobokhov, P. N. Shcherbina and involved in the inquiry. During the search of the apartment, illegal literature of revolutionary content was discovered. The police department opened the case "On charges of a peasant P. G. Shiryaev, a nobleman P. N. Shcherbina and the son of a priest I. T. Sofinsky in distributing illegal literature." He was kept in the Saratov prison castle for almost 18 months.

According to the Highest Order, on June 14, 1878, the case about him was resolved administratively with his expulsion under the public supervision of the police in one of the northeastern provinces. August 13, 1878 was settled in Shenkursk ( Arkhangelsk province ). In December 1878, he tried to escape with Sergey Bobokhov and Vladimir Bondyrev from Pinega during a trip from the Pinezh Fair under the guise of merchants. Detained December 14, 1878 in the village. Rodionovka ( Kholmogorsky district ).

For improper behavior during the trial of Sergei Bobokhov on March 12, 1879 in Arkhangelsk , he was deported to the Yakutsk region . At the end of December 1879 he was settled in Sredne-Kolymsk .

In January 1882 he was sent to Yakutsk , where he was called up for military service in the local military team. He served until April 1885 , at the same time he was under the secret surveillance of the Police Department. He retired from the army with the rank of corporal reserve.

He returned to his homeland in the Saratov province .

In the late 80s - 90s he lived in Kazan and Nizhny Novgorod. He worked as a journalist, collaborated with the legal Kazan and Nizhny Novgorod press.

Died of tuberculosis on April 1, 1899 in Kazan .
