Geographical position

The city is located in the northwestern part of the province, on the left bank of the Irrawaddy River , at a distance of approximately 130 kilometers southwest of the country's capital Naypyidaw . The absolute height is 45 meters above sea ​​level [4] .

Economics and Transport

In the vicinity of the city, rice , cotton , tobacco , and cream apples are grown . Sericulture is developed. Pi's communication with other cities is carried out by rail and road . The airport is located on the eastern outskirts of the city ( ICAO : VYPY, IATA : PRU) [4] .

History

It arose in the XVIII century near the ancient city of Shrikshetra , founded by the drink people and since 638 it has been the capital of the Vikram dynasty.

Attractions

In the central part of Pi, there is the Shvesando Pagoda , in which, according to legend, several hairs of Buddha are stored. Also in the vicinity of the city are the ruins of Sri Ksetra, the capital of the ancient kingdom of Pew .
