Repnin, Alexander Andreevich

Alexander Andreyevich Repnin (d. January 3, 1612 ) is a Russian military and statesman, nobleman , steward and regimental voivode , the only son of governor Prince Andrei Vasilyevich Repnin (d. 1578 ).

Biography

In 1577, Prince Alexander Andreyevich Repnin was first mentioned in the rank of a nobleman who served in Nizhny Novgorod . In the same 1577, Prince A.A. Repnin was granted the capital. In 1584, while preparing for a possible war with the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Tsar Fyodor Ioannovich sent reliable people to make shows to Russian regiments. He was listed in the retinue of Tsar Fyodor Ivanovich during the campaign to Novgorod the Great against the Swedish king Johan III Vaza (winter 1589/90). Prince A. A. Repnin was sent by the governor to the sentry regiment in Kolomna , and then to the left-hand regiment in Kashira .

In 1593 - 1599, Prince Alexander Andreevich Repnin served as regimental governor in the advanced and guard regiment, was in Pereyaslavl-Ryazan (March 1593), Kaluga (April 1594) and Epifani , governor in Pereslavl-Ryazan (1595-1597). Sent by the governor of the advanced regiment to Kaluga (April 1598), in connection with a message from Oskol that somewhere " there is the Crimean king Kazy Girey ." In 1598, Prince Fedor Andreevich Nogotkov-Obolensky filed a petition to Tsar Boris Godunov against Prince Alexander Repnin. According to the petition, Prince A. A. Repnin, appointed this year “ according to the Crimean news ” the third governor of the advanced regiment, accepted the appointment, agreeing to recognize himself lower than the boyar of Prince Ivan Vasilyevich Sitsky . In the same year, he signed a conciliar letter on the election of Boris Fedorovich Godunov to the kingdom. Sent according to the " Crimean news " with a guard regiment in Epifan (1599).

In 1601, Alexander Andreevich Repnin, being in friendship with Fedor Nikitich Romanov and related to the Romanov family, fell into tsar’s disgrace. As a governor in Yaransk , he was accused of embezzlement and, together with his family, was sent into exile in Ufa , where he served as the 3rd governor (as early as 1604) [1] .

In 1608 - 1611, the stolnik prince Alexander Andreevich Repnin was the first governor in Nizhny Novgorod , and remained faithful to Tsar Vasily Ivanovich Shuisky . A. A. Repnin and his friend Andrei Alyabyev successfully led the defense of Nizhny Novgorod , besieged by supporters of the Tushinsky thief . They also sent letters to Russian cities, calling for the gathering of military people in order to " cleanse the Moscow state from Lithuania ." In the spring of 1611, Prince Alexander Andreevich Repnin took part in the First People’s Militia ; on March 10, he, along with other governors, marched from Vladimir to Moscow.

On January 3, 1612, Prince Alexander Andreevich Repnin died and was buried in the Pafnutiev Monastery, leaving two sons behind him:

  • Peter Alexandrovich Repnin (d. 1643 ), steward , boyar and governor ;
  • Boris Alexandrovich Repnin (d. 1670 ), steward , nobleman and governor .
