Nominees and winners are selected by registered participants of the Worldcon convention, the evening presentation of which is its central event. The selection process is carried out by the method of preferential voting with five nominees, excluding the situation with a tied result. The bulletins indicate the five most nominated jury members of this year’s works, and the number of applicants for the award is unlimited. From 1955 to 1958, only the stories that took first place were taken into account, and it was only since 1959 that all five candidates were brought to the chronicle [2] . “Worldcon” events are usually held closer to the beginning of September and are held annually in different cities around the world [3] [4] .
Harlan Ellison received the most awards in this nomination (4 times), Larry Niven , Mike Resnick and Michael Swanwick and Connie Willis won the award 3 times. Mike Resnick was nominated 18 times, Michael Swanwick 14, the other authors were nominated no more than seven times.
