History

It is marked on the map of Ingermanland by A. I. Bergenheim , compiled according to the materials of 1676, as the village of Sydowen Hoff [4] .

On the Swedish "General Map of the Province of Ingermanland" in 1704, it is referred to as the village of Sudova Hoff [5] .

As the village of Udovam , it is indicated on the “Geographical Drawing of Izhora Land” by Adrian Shonbek in 1705 [6] .

On the map of the St. Petersburg province of J.F. Schmitt, 1770 is mentioned as the village of Stramskaya [7] .

On the maps of the beginning of the XIX century is not mentioned.

PEYPIA - the village of Oranienbaum Palace Board, 10 miles by post, and the rest by country road, the number of yards - 4, the number of souls - 20 m. (1856) [8]

In 1860, the village of Peipia consisted of 3 peasant households .

In 1868-1889, the temporarily liable peasants of the village of Peipiy bought their land allotments from the Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna and became the owners of the land [11] .

In the XIX - early XX centuries, the village administratively belonged to the Strelmensky volost of the 2nd camp of the Yamburg district of St. Petersburg province.

In 1917, the village was part of the Strelmensky volost of the Yamburg district.

From 1917 to 1924, the village of Peipiya was part of the Malo-Strelmensky village council of the Soikinsky volost of Kingisepp county .

Since 1924, as part of the Strelmensky village council.

Since 1927, as part of the Kotelsky district [12] .

According to the topographic map of 1930, the village consisted of 24 yards [13] .

According to administrative data of 1933, the village of Peipiya was part of the Strelmensky village council of Kingisepp district [14] .

Near the village was located an aircraft hydro station, at the test site of which in 1934 tests of the world's first hovercraft L-1 were tested. The designer Vladimir Levkov created and tested such boats.

According to the topographic map of 1938, the village consisted of 16 yards.

In 1939, the population of the village of Peipia was 201 people [12] .

During the war, a German concentration camp was located in the village of Peipia . The village was liberated from Nazi occupation on January 31, 1944.

In 1958, the population of Peypiya village was 30 people.

Since 1959, as part of the Nezhnovsky Village Council [12] .

According to the data of 1966, 1973 and 1990, the village of Peipiya was also part of the Nizhny village council of Kingisepp district [15] [16] [17] .

In 1997, 18 people lived in the village, in 2002 - 21 people (Russians - 86%), in 2007 - 3 [18] [19] [20] .

Geography

The village is located in the north-eastern part of the district on the highway 41K-589 ( Pyatchino - Peipiya).

The distance to the administrative center of the settlement is 14 km [20] .

The distance to the nearest railway station Kotly is 27 km [15] .

The village is located on the northwest coast of Lake Kopanskoye near the Peypiya River.

Ecology

There are rare protected mollusks of the European pearl mussel species in the Peypia River [21] .
