Lev Nikandrovich Medvedev ( January 31, 1935 , Tyumen ) - Russian scientist - coleopterologist . He is a prominent specialist in taxonomy, paleontology, ecology, biology and biogeography of leaf beetles and some other families of beetles. Founder of coleopterological analysis. Chief editor of the Russian Entomological Journal. Author of several hundred scientific papers.

Biography
In 1957 he graduated from the Biological Faculty of Moscow State University.
In 1963 he defended his thesis.
In 1973 he became a doctor of biological sciences.
From 1957 to 1959 he worked at the Tyumen Pedagogical Institute.
From 1959 to 1962 he studied at the ZIN postgraduate program, after that he worked at the Botanical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.
Since 1975, for a long time he was in charge of the Laboratory of the Ecology and Insect Morphology of IPEE RAS in Moscow [1] .
In 2006, his laboratory became part of the Laboratory of Insect Morphology and Ecology [2] . Member of the editorial board of the journal Fauna of Saudi Arabia [2] .
Named after him.
- In 2008, the subgenus Smaragdina was named Medvedevella in honor of Lev Nikandrovich [3]
