The referendum on the Chuck Treaty in Paraguay was held on August 15, 1938. [1] The agreement was approved by 91% of the vote.
History
At the end of the Chuck war of 1932–1935 for the Gran Chaco region between Bolivia and Paraguay, a peace conference was held in Buenos Aires ( Argentina ). The agreement, or the Chuck Treaty, was signed on July 21, 1938. Its ratification was to take place within 20 days after signing. In Bolivia, the treaty was ratified by parliament on August 15. In Paraguay, he was put out on the same day for a referendum, which thus became the first referendum in the history of the country. [one]
