Nikko's Cedar Alley ( 日光 杉 並 木 Nikko: Sughinamics ) is a road in the Japanese city of Nikko , along which about 13,000 cryptomeria trees are planted. Cryptomeria, or Japanese cedar, is the national tree of Japan. The alley consists of three parts converging in , its length is 35.41 kilometers. It is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest alley in the world [1] . Nikko's Cedar Alley is Japan's national treasure.

Part of Nikko's Cedar Alley
Trees were planted about 400 years ago. This monumental project began in 1625 and was completed in April 1648, when the feudal lord Matsudaira Masatsuna donated the alley as a gift to the Nikko Tosho-gu temple. It is estimated that around 200,000 trees were planted at that time.
