Botanical description

Perennial herbaceous plants. The rhizome is long, branched. Stem up to 1 m tall. Spikelets are single-flowered. Inflorescence is a panicle [2] .

Taxonomy

The genus Sandbolt includes 4 species [3] :

  • Ammophila arenaria ( L. ) Link - Sandstone
  • Ammophila breviligulata fernald
  • Ammophila champlainensis F.Seym.
  • Ammophila pallida ( J.Presl ) Fritsch
