Kuvinsky district was formed on January 23, 1935 as part of the Cherkessk Autonomous District of the North Caucasus Region .
On March 13, 1937, the Circassian Autonomous Region became part of the Ordzhonikidze (from January 12, 1943 - Stavropol ) Territory.
As of 1939, the village councils were part of the Kuva district: Abaza-Khablsky, Apsuansky, Vako-Gilles, Kiev-Zhurakovsky, Novo-Kuvinsky, Spartansky, Staro-Kuvinsky, Tapanta, Erken-Yurtovsky and Ersakonsky.
On May 29, 1952, the Baralki s / c was transferred from the Icon-Khalk district to Kuvinsky.
On August 20, 1953, the Kuva District was abolished, and its territory was transferred to the Icon-Khalk District.
