Bdeyan Amayak Gurgenovich (1925–2017) was a Soviet and Armenian artist and ceramist, national artist of Armenia.

Biography

1925 - born in the city of Tbilisi .
1943 - 1945 - was drafted into the Soviet army and fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War.
1947 - entered the faculty of painting of the Tbilisi Academy of Arts.
1950 - transferred to the ceramics faculty of the Tbilisi Academy of Arts.
1957 - Graduated with honors from the Faculty of Ceramics at the Tbilisi Academy of Arts. The first participation in the republican exhibition.
1959 - moved to Yerevan . Entered the experimental ceramic laboratory of the Institute of Arts of the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR.
1961 - 1964 - taught at the Yerevan Art College. F. Terlemezyana.
1963 - worked as the chief artist of the Yerevan faience factory, according to his sketches many new artistic items were produced.
1970 - teaches at the Yerevan Art and Theater Institute.
1981 - through the Union of Artists of the USSR for one month was sent on a creative mission to Romania .
1987 - a creative trip to the Baltics , Dzintari for 3 months.
1991 - moved with his family to Paris .
1992 - with his daughter Karine Bdeyan (Baghdasaryan) in Paris in the gallery "Lesan" opened an exhibition of works, where ceramics, decorative forms, sculpture, painting and graphics were exhibited.

Creativity

1960 - personal exhibition in Yerevan , in the Museum of Literature and Art.
1961 - Interior design of the Matenadarean (a book depository of ancient Armenian manuscripts) with over 40 works. In 1977, his sculptures "Grich" and "Tsakhkoh" were installed in the interior of the Matenadaran.
1961 - participated in the exhibition of visual arts of the USSR in Italy with the works: “Lan” and “Jug with bowls”.
1962 - participation in the International Exhibition of Ceramics in Prague , where the works were awarded an honorary diploma of the World Academy of Ceramics.
1963 - participated in the exhibition of applied art of the USSR in Syria and Egypt .
1964 - participated in the exhibition of applied art in Switzerland .
1964 - participated in the exhibition of applied art in Hungary .
1965 - participated in the IV International Exhibition of Ceramics in Geneva , was awarded an honorary diploma of the Union of Artists of the USSR .
1966 - participated in the exhibition of applied art of the USSR in Bulgaria . Designed Winter Garden State. Academic Drama Theater. G. Sundukyan ( architect R. Allakhverdyan).
1967 - participated in the exhibition of Transcaucasian art in India ( Delhi ). Participated in the exhibition of Soviet art in Romania . Participated in the international exhibition in Montreal "EXPO-67". Participated in the international exhibition in Damascus .
1970 - jointly with the artist David Yerevantsi designed the interior and exterior of the newly built House of Chess ( architect J. Mescheryakov) in Yerevan .
1971 - participated in the international exhibition in Valoris ( France ).
1972 - participated in the international exhibition of applied art of the USSR, organized in Bulgaria , Czechoslovakia and the GDR .
1973 - participation at the International Exhibition of Ceramics in Italy in the city of Faenza , where an honorary diploma was received for 4 decorative vases.
1974 - participated in the artistic design of the cinema "Russia" in Yerevan .
1974 - 1975 - traveled to Switzerland and Germany to participate in the exhibition of Armenian applied art. The works of A. Bdeyan were exhibited in a separate section.
1976 - participated in the exhibition of arts and crafts of Armenia , organized in Hungary (Budapest).
1978 - participated in the exhibition of Armenian art in Germany.
1979 - established the four-meter composition “Friendship” on a circular boulevard in Yerevan .
1980 - designed the interiors and exteriors of the VDNH of the Armenian SSR: about 15 works of decorative forms from chamotte of various sizes and tones were installed.
1984 - with 23 works the interior of the Palace of Youth in Yerevan was designed.
1985 - in the exhibition hall of the Union of Artists of Armenia opened a large personal exhibition, where more than 100 works were exhibited. The departments presented the creativity of the early 60s until 1985. The departments are black-lacquered ceramics made of clay, fireclay decorative forms, vases, sculptures of different textures. Many different sizes of dishes and inserts, covered with enamels, glazes and salts with different shades. On the walls are paintings, graphics and meter photographs of monumental works related to architecture.
1994 - exhibition of works in the gallery "Guie" in Paris , with his daughter Karine Bdeyan (Baghdasaryan). Presents new ceramics, masks, sculpture of female figures, cast in bronze, graphics and painting.
1996 — personal exhibition in Paris in the gallery “Guie” - ceramics, sculptures made of bronze, masks.
2000 - participated in an exhibition at the Museum of Applied Arts of Armenia in Sardarapat 7 works from tinted chamotte.
2002 - participated in the exhibition dedicated to the Day of Victory and Liberation of Shushi , with 9 works from the fireclay.
2011 - participated in the exhibition with large dishes in ceramics with painted and patinated six decorative bronze female figures in the exhibition hall of the Union of Artists of Armenia in Yerevan .

Awards

1957 - Member of the Union of Artists of Georgia.
1967 - awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Armenian SSR.
1971 - Awarded a diploma for successful participation in the work of an international symposium of ceramics artists in Vilnius.
1985 - The Supreme Council of the Armenian SSR was awarded the honorary title of the People's Artist of the Armenian SSR.
2016 - Movses Khorenatsi Medal .
