Content
Geography
Mondy is the most western and alpine settlement of the region. It is located on the Tunkinsky tract , 83 km from the village of Kyren , in the isolated valley of the Upper Irkut , in view of the Munku-Sardyk massif, the foot of which begins 10 km west of the village. 11 km south-west along the Tunkinsky tract, on the Mungiin-Daban pass, the state border with Mongolia passes and the Monda- Hankh border crossing is located .
Behind the village on the right bank of Irkut , up the river, a branch from the Tunkinsky tract in the north-west direction, the regional road 03K-035 Mondy - Orlik begins, connecting the Okinsky district of Buryatia with the rest of the republic.

The Sayan Observatory of the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences is a branch of the Institute of Solar and Earth Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences [3] , founded in 1966 . It is located 15 km southwest of the village.
