Went out of the O'Higgins youth system, but quickly achieved a place at the base and managed to play in Chile's top league. Usually plays on the left flank of the defense, can act as a winger [2] .
Club career
Christian Cuevas is a graduate of the O'Higgins Club. In 2011, he was transferred by coach Ivo Basai from the youth team to the main team of the club. His debut in the Chilean Championship took place in the 15th round of the 2011 Aperture in a match against Colo-Colo , in which his team was defeated with a score of 5: 1 [3] .
In 2012, Cuevas was on a three-day preview at Chelsea . On February 21, 2013, the official website of the Chilean O'Higgins football club confirmed that Cuevas was acquired by Chelsea. He joined his new club on July 23, 2013 [2] . The amount of the deal for a football player was $ 2.6 million [4] . Cuevas signed a contract with the "blue", which will be calculated until the summer of 2018.
“Everything happened very quickly, everything was agreed on this week. Chelsea has been following me for over a year, and finally we reached an agreement. On August 10, 2015, Christian moved to the club Saint-Truiden , serving in the Belgian Pro League , on loan for one season [5] . On August 16, he made his debut in the Pro League, coming on as a substitute in the match of the 4th round against Gent (0: 1) [6] . November 21, scored the first goal for “Saint-Truiden” in the 9th minute in the match of the 15th round of the Pro-League against Vasland-Beveren (1: 2) [7] .
In August 2017, he moved on loan to the Dutch “ Twente ” [8] .
International Career
In January 2013, Cuevas, as part of the youth team of Chile, took part in the Youth Championship of South America held in Argentina . In the matches against Bolivia and Colombia he scored a goal, thanks to which his team managed to leave the preliminary group to the final stage, where Chileans took the fourth place, which allowed them to take part in the 2013 World Youth Championship in Turkey . There, the national team of Chile reached the quarterfinals, and Cuevas spent four of the five games of his national team.
