George Neal ( born George D. Neal ; October 7, 1853 , Amelia County, Virginia - July 13, 1916 , Navasota , Texas ) is an American politician, the 21st vice-governor of Texas .

Biography
George Neal was born on October 7, 1853 in County, Virginia , into the family of Dr. Thomas Neal and Elizabeth Haskins. In 1866, he and his family moved to Texas , where his father began working as a doctor in Washington-on-Brazosa . After leaving school, Neil was educated at Baylor University , and then studied for a year at the University of Texas .
For a while Neil served as Under Secretary of Austin County, studied law, and in 1878 was admitted to Belleville Bar. In 1881, he moved to . From 1884 to 1886, Neil served as a judge in Grims County, in 1888-1896 as a lawyer in Navasota, and in 1896 he was elected to the Texas Senate to end the remaining term of W.P. McComb. A year later, he was re-elected to the following term, and held this position until 1902.
In 1903-1907, Neil was Texas Vice Governor. In 1907, he returned to Navasota, where before his death on July 13, 1916, he practiced law.
Personal life
On October 7, 1880, Neil married Fanny Brooks; they had two children.
