Igor Mikhailovich Makarov ( October 22, 1927 , Saratov - January 14, 2013 , Moscow ) - Soviet and Russian scientist in the field of robotics and flexible automated production, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Department of Nanotechnology and Information Technology (1987), deputy minister of higher and secondary education of the USSR for Science (1975-1988), founder and head of the department "Problems of Management" MSTU MIREA (1980-2013).

Biography
In 1950 he graduated from the Department of Instruments and Equipment at the Moscow Aviation Institute .
In 1950-1962, he worked at the Institute of Automation and Telemechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR , where at different times he held the positions of engineer, senior engineer, junior / senior researcher , and also deputy head of the laboratory. The main part of his developments (among which were solutions to theoretical and applied problems of ACS) was of defense importance. His scientific contribution was appreciated, and on November 26, 1974, Igor Mikhailovich was elected a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences in the Department of Mechanics and Control Processes.
Since 1953 he worked at the Academy of Defense Industry, and since 1959 - at the All-Union Correspondence Energy Institute (future MIREA ), where in 1979 he founded the Department of Management Problems, which is now part of the Department of Cybernetics.
In 1962-1975 he worked in the apparatus of the Central Committee of the CPSU as deputy head of the department of science and educational institutions, in 1975-1988 he was deputy minister of higher and secondary education of the USSR for science.
In 1983, he created a laboratory for system analysis of complex computer-integrated and automated systems at ISA of the USSR Academy of Sciences, and on December 23, 1987 he became a full member (academician) of the USSR Academy of Sciences in the Department of Informatics, Computer Engineering and Automation.
In 1988-1991 he was the chief scientific secretary of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, in 1991-1997 he was the chief scientific secretary of the RAS. Since 1996 - Advisor to the RAS [2] .
He was chairman of the Scientific Council for Exhibitions of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Scientific Council for Robotics and Mechatronics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the head of the Scientific and Educational Center "Robotics" at MSTU. N.E. Bauman, a member of the editorial boards of several scientific journals. Elected to foreign academies of sciences, honorary professors of foreign universities.
The author of numerous textbooks and manuals, including "Robotics and GAP", as well as more than 300 articles and monographs .
Son - Sergey (born 1963), a Russian businessman [3] .
He was buried in Moscow at the Troekurovsky cemetery [4] .
