Biography

Ruslan Akhtakhanov was born in 1953 in the village of Znamenskoye in the Nadterechny district of the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic . He graduated from the Moscow Food Institute .

After returning to Chechnya, he worked at a food processing plant , which he subsequently became director of . In his free time he wrote poetry .

In the 1990s, Akhtakhanov created his own company in Moscow , which was engaged in the production of food additives and related products for patients with diabetes .

He founded the Democratic Progressive Party, uniting a number of Chechen public figures who sought to turn Chechnya into an independent, secular , democratic state . After Doku Zavgaev came to power in the republic, the party became opposition. Under Aslan Maskhadov, the DPP left the opposition. Some party members received seats in the government.

Advised on economic issues Dzhokhar Dudaev and Aslan Maskhadov. Served as the sales representative of Dudaev in Latvia .

He was kidnapped and spent 47 days in Zindan . After captivity, he began to study poetry more actively.

In 2009 he received a special prize of the annual Artem Borovik Prize "For a firm internationalist position in life and work." The award was presented for the poetic collection "I am proud of Chechnya, the heroes who gave the world."

He was known for advocating the preservation of the Chechen Republic as part of Russia, which caused discontent among the radical separatists.

He was killed in Moscow with several shots around midnight on November 15, 2011 [1] .

Family

Was married. He had three daughters and a son.
