Amblyomma argentinae (lat.) - a species of ticks from the family Ixodidae . South America : Argentina ( Formosa , Cordoba , Catamarca , Santiago del Estero ). Ticks of medium size (2-5 mm, males are smaller than females). Coxae I-IV with 2 spurs (coxae I with 2 short spurs equal in length). Vetlugi without spurs. Parasitize on reptiles . Findings on turtles of the species Geochelone chilensis (= Chelonoides (Testudo) chilensis ) are known. In males, the dorsal rigid shield covers the entire body, in females, a third. The species was first described in 1904 by the French zoologist Professor L. G. Newmann (Neumann LG; 1846-1930) [1] [2] .
