Biography
Pavel Guryanov was born December 15, 1918 in the village of Shcherbet, Spassky district, Kazan province (now Spassky district of Tatarstan ) in a working family. He graduated from the seven-year school, after which he worked as an mechanic on a ship, and then as a mechanic at various enterprises in Kazan . In 1939, Guryanov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. He served in the Far East . Since May 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He took part in the battles on the Bryansk , Central , Voronezh , 1st Ukrainian fronts. He participated in the battles of Voronezh , the Battle of Kursk , the liberation of the Ukrainian SSR and Poland , the Berlin and Prague operations. By September 1943, Sergeant Pavel Guryanov was in command of the telephone and cable platoon of the 622nd Separate Communications Company of the 74th Rifle Division of the 13th Army of the Central Front. He distinguished himself during the crossing of the Desna and the battle for the Dnieper [1] .
During the crossing of the Soviet troops through Desna in the region of the village of Obolon, Korop district, Chernihiv region of the Ukrainian SSR, Guryanov, having built a raft, transported his squad to the western bank of the river, and then, within a few days, floating on a log, healed the damage, ensuring uninterrupted communication with the division headquarters and the west bank, and in addition to the main communication line, he also laid a spare one across the river. On the night of September 23-24, 1943, during the crossing across the Dnieper in the area of the village of Komarin, Braginsky district, Gomel region of the Belorussian SSR , Guryanov, along with his branch, was one of the first to cross the river and make a connection. In the future, he had to cross the Dnieper five times, eliminating damage on the line [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR of October 16, 1943, for “courage, bravery and heroism shown in battles with the German invaders,” Sergeant Pavel Guryanov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 3277 [1 ] .
In 1945, the rank of senior sergeant Guryanov was demobilized. He lived and worked in Kazan. He died on June 16, 1960, and was buried in Arskoye Cemetery [1] .
He was also awarded a number of medals. A monument was erected to Guryanov in the village of Shcherbet [1] .
