Toledo mountains rise above the Novokastilsky plateau , South Meseta . Altitude exceeds 1000 m , the highest point is Pico-Vilyuercas (1603 m ). The main ranges are the Sierra de la Calderina between the cities of Malagon and Puerto Lapise , the Sierra de Guadalupe near Guadalupe and the Sierra de Altamira on the border of Extremadura and Castile-La Mancha .
The dimensions of the system are about 350 km in length and 50-100 km in width, and its length is from west to east . The Toledo Mountains are a watershed of the Tagus and Guadiana rivers .
The Toledo Mountains are located south of Central Cordillera in the provinces of Cáceres , Toledo and Ciudad Real .
In honor of the mountains, the Montes de Toledo mosquito got its name.
