Biography
Almazov Vladimir Andreevich [1] was born on May 27, 1931 in the village of Rusanovo, Toropetsky district, Tver region. He studied at an elementary rural school, at Toropetsk Secondary School No. 1. In 1948 he entered the 1st Leningrad Medical Institute named after Academician I.P. Pavlov .
Place of employment: Since 1972 - Head of the Department of the 1st Leningrad Medical Institute; since 1978 - the chief cardiologist of the city; Since 1980 - Director of the Research Institute of Cardiology of the Ministry of Health of the USSR (St. Petersburg), Chairman of the Cardiology Society of St. Petersburg named after G.F. Lang.
The clinic of the department of faculty therapy, where V.A. Almazov worked, has become a multidisciplinary medical institution, including a therapeutic, cardiology, endocrine and hematological department, intensive care unit.
V.A. Almazov laid the foundation of the cardiology scientific school, which became the basis for the creation in 1980 of the Scientific Research Institute of Cardiology of the USSR Ministry of Health.
Under the leadership of Almazov, 60 candidate and 25 doctoral dissertations were defended.
About the academician of RAMS V. A. Almazov in 2001 the television movie “Lomonosov from Toropets” was shot.
Academician of RAMS, was a member of the Department of Medical Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus. He was elected People's Deputy of the USSR from the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences.
