Batavia (country)

Batavia ( lat. Batavia ) - originally an island inhabited by the ancient tribe of the Batavians , then the whole country, occupied by the Batavians in the ancient Roman era; then the Latin name of Holland and the entire Netherlands state.

Hence the name " Batavian Republic ", adopted by the Netherlands after the escape of William V to England. The name of this lasted from May 16, 1795 until July 5, 1806, when the republic was turned into the Dutch kingdom under Louis Bonaparte .

During the war, because of the throne between Vitellius and Vespasian Batavia, under the command of Guy Tsivilis, separated from Rome. The uprising of 71 at Vespasian was crushed, and the country of the Batavians returned again to the same subordinate allied relations. This lasted until the end of the III century, when the Salic Franks took possession of the Batavian island.
